Celebrating our Difference Maker!

“Lucy has such incredible knowledge, perseverance, patience, and dedication. Paired with her own life experience, this has led her to be an invaluable part of the team. Even before this, as a resident, she engaged in the process from the beginning, and it was clear she had a heart to serve. For as soon as she was able to, she started providing support to other residents, even as her own life was in the midst of turmoil.”

From Director Lucy Briseno:

“My journey to earning a Bachelor of Applied Science in Leadership and Management has been anything but traditional—and I wouldn’t have it any other way. As a single mother, a full-time Program Manager @ MWVCM, and a full-time student, I’ve had to juggle many roles, often all at once. The road here has been significant and full of lessons. I’ve managed to work through many issues like addiction, homelessness, child welfare involvement, and a series of poor decisions that once made a future like this feel completely out of reach.

What brought me through was a deep commitment to change-fueled by reflection, sacrifice, and an unwavering sense of determination. I most definitely didn’t do it alone. I had to learn how to ask for help, how to forgive myself, and how to keep going even when it felt impossible. Education became more than just a goal; it became a symbol of everything I’ve reclaimed.

Today, I stand proud—not just of the degree I’ve earned, but of the person I’ve become along the way.”

“Walking alongside families struggling with adversity is the mission behind everything we do at Lucille’s Home. This commitment began with our 1st family, a mom named Lucy, in December 2013. From the moment she walked into the room, I sensed the Lord had plans for her and I was excited to support this family’s journey on the path that He would take them on. Through the years, Lucy has taught me so much about resilience, perseverance and dedication. Today we are celebrating Lucy Brisano for the significant achievement of receiving her Bachelor’s Degree which she has worked hard to earn, often having to overcome obstacles and advocate for herself when it seemed no one was in her corner. We are proud to have Lucy as a part of our team serving families at Lucille’s Home and wish her a bright future in the days ahead.”
